Message from the Conference Chairperson
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 4th annual conference of the International Society on Caring and Peace which will be held in Tokyo with the main theme ‘Family Nursing and Caring’.
The conference has been held annually since the first conference held in Hiroshima in 2012, and we are steadily moving toward the establishment of caring science. The development of the conference, when compared to human years, would be at a four-year-old stage, the most active stage of growth toward maturity. I am more than honored, at this very time for the significant future progress, to extend my warmest welcome.
In this rapidly aging society with declining birth rate, together with the advanced medical science and technology, the importance of family support becomes all the more crucial. It is my understanding that the philosophical perspectives of caring, the basis of stable interpersonal relationship, should be incorporated in the practices of nursing for patients as well as their family members.
For the above reasons, ‘Family Nursing and Caring’ was chosen as the main theme of this conference. Members of the Association and all participating scientists are expected to rack their brains with us in linking our philosophical perspective and actual practices of caring.
It is my sincere desire that the conference would provide an opportunity to reconsider Dr. Watson’s theory of human caring and caring Science. I believe that the goal of our nursing care shall only be accomplished by applying Dr. Watson’s Theory of Human Caring/Caring Science to our practices of nursing.
